Maxim Velčovský

* 1976

Maxim Graduated from the University of Applied Arts in Prague. In 2002 he co-founded Qubus design studio. He has participated in hundreds of group exhibitions and his works are included in collections such as the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, New Pinakothek in Munich, the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague, the Museum of Design in Lausanne etc. His portfolio includes concepts for private galleries, as well as works for multinational corporations. His work for Qubus design studio has been included in publication of Marcus Fairs: Twenty -First Century Design and in 2007 was chosen by the publication & fork among the 100 most interesting young designers of the latest five-year plan. In 2007 was Maxim awarded Designer of the Year and in 2008 the British magazine Wallpaper appreciated his installation as the best work of the year. In 2010, collaborated on an installation for Czech Pavilion at EXPO 2010. Since 2011 works as Art Director for Lasvit company. Currently also acting as Head of the Ceramics and porcelain studio at the Academy of Architecture, Art and Design.
